They met 11 years ago, she moved to London with her dog Nika, he proposed in Spain and they came back to Detroit. The rest, as they say, is history. However in this case it’s their beginning. Truthfully, a wedding day really is just the beginning and the start of any couples story. So, it’s for that story that I photograph weddings. I love getting to know my couples and their history together. Why? Because it helps me create a better experience for them. It helps to connect with them and to see the wedding day through their eyes. The result is that the wedding photos are more natural and will help them to remember what they felt and experienced that day. The story that they tell to the next generation and new family & friends that come into their life will be so much richer!
Natalie & Kevin celebrated in classic, Detroit style at The Detroit Yacht Club. It was beautiful, understated and classic. It was a reflection of who they are. Natalie’s mom said to me, “she’s always taking care of others first.” I could totally see that. They both made sure everyone was enjoying their day even though the wedding day was for them. Well, that’s true in a sense but every couple does well to think of the experience they are giving to family and friends too. Yes, it’s your day, but you’re also a host to your family & friends. You’re building their memories as well. Natalie & Kevin have a strong connection with Detroit. They were married at the Historic Trinity Lutheran Church which was a nod to family tradition. We had beautiful portraits at Belle Isle. And it came all together at The Detroit Yacht Club. Oh, and they live at the iconic Mies Van der Rohe, Lafayette Place. Detroit through & through!
