Michigan and Detroit Wedding Photographers
There are few wedding venues that can give you a mix of lush outdoor sprawling landscapes, iconic architecture built by automotive aristocracy, and inclusive fun under a big top tent. Maggie & Justin experienced all of that and more. Their epic bash was held at the iconic Meadow Brook Hall & Gardens in Rochester, Michigan. Fun, festive, luxurious & classic are instantly apparent when you see the images below. Thanks to our friend & incredible wedding planner, Carlyn Roth of The Bash Events, all the details came together beautifully even when we had to pivot and have the ceremony under a secondary tent due to rain.
The fun, however, started the day before at their rehearsal dinner held at Big Rock Chophouse in Birmingham, Michigan. I love photographing rehearsal dinners because it gives me the chance to get to know the family and closest friends more intimately. It’s a more relaxed environment and that always helps the creative viewpoint become more focused. Come wedding day I know who’s who and can capture them at their best. The biggest benefit is that your friends become my friends and we have a great time together.
Of course, the real highlight of the wedding weekend wasn’t just the fun, but the tender moments shared between everyone there. Maggie & Justin have life long friends and strong family bonds that drew everyone together. There were tears of joy and tears of remembrance and it’s totally ok to feel and express it on a wedding day. It’s one of the reasons why I’m truly grateful to be a photographer and witness these moments in my couples lives. I get to connect with the experiences we all share in life – love, loss, joy, traditions, and celebration.
